Dame Edna Everage

Dame Edna Everage is probably the most popular and gifted woman in the world today: housewife, investigative journalist, social anthropologist, talk show host, swami, children’s book illustrator, spin doctor, Zettastar, and Icon. With Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Toni Collette, Judy Davis, Nicole Kidman, Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton-John, and Naomi Watts, she is one of a remarkable succession of female stars to emerge from Australia.

Her early success Down Under was repeated in London with stage shows including "Housewife, Superstar", "A Night with Dame Edna" and countless command performances for Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family. Her Broadway show, "Dame Edna: The Royal Tour" was met with unanimous critical acclaim and received the Tony Award for Live Theatrical Event.

Television credits are innumerable and include the BAFTA-nominated series “The Dame Edna Experience”, a groundbreaking reinvention of the talk show format. Her Christmas Special, “A Night on Mount Edna” was awarded the prestigious Rose d’Or, Europe’s foremost standard for excellence in entertainment programming. She went on to record similar television specials for NBC and FOX Networks in the United States.

Dame Edna is a best-selling author. Her books include Dame Edna’s Coffee Table Book, Dame Edna’s Bedside Companion, Lost Monasteries of Bulgaria, and her seminal autobiography, My Gorgeous Life, which is currently being adapted for the stage and screen. Her newest book (in the pipeline), Love Your Husband's Prostate, is due for publication in 2021. In addition, Dame Edna is the subject of an important study by the theatre historian and New Yorker critic, John Lahr, Dame Edna Everage and the Rise of Western Civilization.

Dame Edna is the founder of EdnaCare (Switzerland), which leases her services worldwide. In the early 1980s, she founded the internationally renowned organization, Friends of the Prostate, which organizes The World Prostate Olympics.

Possibly Jewish, Dame Edna is a widow, with three grown children. She spends her time visiting world leaders, and jet-setting between her homes in Beverly Hills, Gstaad, London, and Sydney.
